Providers
Sallie Dalton
PMHNP-BC, AFN
Sallie Dalton is one provider and founder of A Good Mind Too, Philadelphia’s newest mental health outpatient clinic. She feels she can help people overcome their symptoms in a not so novel way, by allowing the patient to be at the center of their care. The ever evolving requirements of all providers have caused the patient centered approach to lose value, and Sallie wants to change the patient experience by getting back to the basics of what healthcare is all about, patient engagement in treatment.
Before helping to establish A Good Mind Too, Sallie worked at local mental health clinics within the city, as well as in Starkville, MS near Mississippi State University. Before obtaining her master’s degree in nursing (MSN) and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner board certification, she worked in various fields including a home health company in Central Mississippi counties, a post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) in Jackson, MS, and cardiac step-down-unit at one of Mississippi’s largest hospitals, Baptist Medical Center as well.
She obtained her Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from East Central Community College, her MSN from The University of Mississippi Medical Center, and has completed her Advanced Forensic Nursing Post-Master’s Program at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from UMMC. Sallie believes and knows that patients who suffer from psychiatric disorders commonly intersect with the legal system, and these patients require specialized services when navigating their trauma and rights within this system.
Sallie describes herself as an empathetic but firm provider, requiring the most from her patients, so that they may take control of their lives again. She feels as if patients begin to manage their mental illness and see results positively flow into each area of their lives, they can remain functioning optimally long term. She says, “In my opinion at first, patient engagement is a guided approach, then, it becomes an approach where the patient takes charge of their mental illness. I want to enable patients to become the lead managers of their lives and flourish.” When she is not working with patients, Sallie enjoys kayaking all over the Southeast, spending time finding deals at Dirt Cheap, and enjoying watching her children grow. She understands we only get one chance at this life and are given this life to help one another. That is exactly what she plans to do at A Good Mind Too.

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
